OUR MISSION

Our mission is to promote a sturdy foundation of recovery from alcohol, drugs, and other behavioral and mental health issues by providing an environment that fosters safety, community, accountability, and trust at an affordable price.

RECOVERY FOR LIFE

To live life, you need recovery.

OUR PHILOSOPHY / DIFFERENCE

Our primary goal is to provide a safe space for recovery from substance use disorder by promoting a supportive and positive place to heal. Our process highlights accountability, hard work, and perseverance for clients to move forward into their new lifestyle. Stages of Recovery allows for a smooth transition from inpatient/residential treatment (rehab) to living at home and going to work.

Our staff strives to maintain a simple, yet active, treatment program and the sober-living environment in which members are accountable for their new lifestyle while addressing their actions in a responsible manner. We are advocates of the continuum of care model of recovery.  Research suggests that clients attend our Intensive Outpatient Program while residing in sober living. We believe a solid, clinical foundation combined with a lifestyle that contributes to one’s sobriety and transition is crucial. Our clients’ success has shown this combination produces the courage and confidence needed for recovery for life.

The structured sober living program plays a critical role in establishing a new lifestyle. The early stages of the program may feel out of your comfort zone but will allow you to help your fellow residents stay accountable with the day-to-day lessons – essential to creating a robust foundation for long-term sobriety. Our community is committed to helping one another regain a safe and healthy lifestyle, and you’re encouraged to grow both emotionally and spiritually during the recovery process. We insist on having fun and entering this new chapter in your life with peace and ease. Living with an untreated substance use disorder can end today. Our program is the start of your independence and a new sense of confidence.

THE STAGES OF RECOVERY AFTERCARE PROGRAM

Since 2007, we’ve been facilitating all levels of recovery services to our clients, while giving them an opportunity to learn and grow, at an affordable cost.

In 2015, we began offering our clinical intensive outpatient services, as well as our LIMITLESS Recovery Coaching, to our Sober Living Community Program. We continue to provide our clients with daily opportunities to gain more insight about their afflictions and how to overcome them from both the clinical and 12-step perspectives. Our Intensive Outpatient Program paired with The Door Sober Living and LIMITLESS Recovery Coaching will provide you or your loved one the top-level of aftercare offered in Central Texas at the most affordable rate.

OUR CORE CONCEPTS

Safety

Safety is our most important goal. We foster an atmosphere of healing and protection that encourages our knowledgeable staff members to respond immediately to relapse and a variety of other issues. This instant response creates a community-wide awareness that fosters a high level of trust and communication between the staff and clients. As trust builds, we find our clients ask for guidance from our team more often, which leads to higher rates of long-term sobriety and a greater feeling of belonging in general.

Community

In addition to our focus on safety, we value community so highly that everything else we do can’t function without it. We believe our community can completely alter the lives of those transitioning to a sober-living lifestyle. Every action we take sets up the culture of peer and staff support and can be seen from the minute you walk into our treatment program and sober living households.

Accountability

We believe individual accountability is crucial. Our program offers less restriction while residing in sober living, where clients are surrounded by support and encouragement. We hold our clients accountable to the standards which we believe are necessary for daily life in recovery, as well as their own defined long-term and short-term goals. The result of this methodology is clients who are ready to transition to their own living environments within three months to two years. By holding our clients accountable to set standards, actions, and behaviors, we offer them the tools they need to create a positive, life-long transition to sobriety.

Affordability

We are dedicated to providing the best support and education at the most affordable price. We offer a robust program with accredited and caring professionals at a price point we hope is well within reach of most households. We are passionate about the journey to and through treatment and sober living, the safety and health of our clients, and producing a positive transition into society for all who participate in our program.

Education

Growth through mentorship has consistently been a key component of our system of care. As our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) continues to grow, we see much better outcomes as we partner with the client to give him/her a rewarding experience, strength, and hope. In conjunction with continuing education, experience with the disease of addiction, life skills development, and the accountability we are known for, we are changing the way addicts recover from substance abuse.

Kayli Cross

Recovery Coach
Kayli Cross is a Marriage and Family Therapist and Chemical Dependency Counselor and has been working in the addiction recovery field for six years. She graduated from Texas Tech University in 2010 and has always had a special place for Lubbock in her heart. Most of her experience is in creating and implementing effective treatment for families with adolescents with addictive behaviors. At the beginning of her career, she found herself working in an inpatient treatment setting in Houston and questioning if there was more to early recovery than the high relapse rates and brokenness she saw families continually experiencing. In 2011, she was introduced to a highly effective model of treatment that was 12-step based and combined clinical services with outreach activities that taught teens how to have fun in sobriety and parents how to love their kids and how to be a catalyst of change in their lives. What has attracted Kayli to continue working in this field is the change that she has seen is possible for families and the change that she has experienced in her own life. She believes that the hope and healing that can come out of such a dark place is nothing short of a miracle. Her role at Stages is to create a loving and fun atmosphere for teens to learn how to stay sober, as well as to model for parents how to hold healthy boundaries that give their kids a fighting chance. She fully believes in hope for recovery and has the mindset that its her job to fight alongside families and to be willing to do whatever it takes.

House Managers

Anthony McClain

Client Relations House Manager, Men’s Program
A Pennsylvania native, Anthony left home in active addiction at 21 years old because he thought he had it all figured out. Anthony moved around a bit, from Wyoming to Montana to Colorado. His disease progressed, causing Anthony to neglect priorities such as relationships, rent and job opportunities. Finally, when he had enough, he was homeless as well as broken spiritually, emotionally and physically. Anthony researched a treatment center in the Dallas area that was able to fly him down to Texas. He was a client there for 57 days. While at treatment, Anthony heard of The Door Sober Living and the recovery that Lubbock had to offer. Anthony took a greyhound to Lubbock. In 2012, Anthony stayed at The Door for 6 months and moved in with other residents in their own apartment. Without accountability and the structure that was offered at The Door, Anthony fell into old behavior for several months until he reached out to those he knew in the 12-step fellowship he had been a part of. Anthony then checked into the Ranch at Dove Tree, where he stayed for 30 days. Upon successful completion, Anthony returned to The Door Sober Living on May 19, 2013. This time, Anthony signed a one-year agreement and expressed great willingness to maintain his clean time. As the previous house manager moved in with his fiancé, Anthony was asked to step up and take on the duties. Anthony has been the Client Relations House Manager since July 2014.
